Mabuhay, Inc.’s Solidarity Statement for Social Justice

Over the last 35 years, Mabuhay, Inc. has grown in both numbers and diversity. We are proud to be a Filipino-American organization that welcomes all races with open arms. Our organizational goals provide for fostering an understanding of American and Filipino cultureas well as the Civil Rights Act.

The recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery have sparked demonstrations and questions as to why Black people are still subject to racism in America. Today, over 150 years after enslaved people were freed, Black Americans continue to suffer from injustices and violence stemming from systemic racism. Mabuhay, Inc. believes in equality and rejects racism in all its forms.

It is important for us to understand that Black history intertwines with our own. Filipino Americans as a group continue to benefit from the social justice reforms paid for by the sacrifices, blood, and lives of Black Americans. In their time of need, we need to stand beside our Black brothers and sisters, not just with our voices but with our actions. It is the right and humane thing to do.

Mabuhay, Inc. is developing action items that will be shared with our membership in the coming weeks. We welcome your input and support in these efforts to build understanding, empathy, and equality for all. Puso sa puso. Kapwa sa kapwa.
